Administratively oversees all components of the medical educational program at Sacred Heart including long-range planning and budgeting, in collaboration with Medical Director for Education and the Physician Lead for Research. Serves as liaison with OHSU, College of Osteopathic Medicine in the Pacific NW (COMP) and other affiliated medical schools to integrate MD, DO and PA trainees into daily work schedules by promoting a culture of learning. Works closely with PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Staff faculty to assure curriculum coordination, faculty development and continuous program improvement. The Manager of Medical Education/Research must ensure that quality and performance improvement activities meet their target conditions. The Manager of Medical Education/Research is responsible to adhere to all applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and standards for their areas and to be continuously ready for any survey on those regulations or standards.

- Provides leadership in planning for resources, facility design, processes and staff to meet the long-range goals of the program in collaboration with the Medical Education Director and Executive Governance.
- Develops strategies and plans resources to support research activities in the region to support PeaceHealth Oregon Region’s long-term goals.
- Oversees necessary timelines associated with developing Graduate Medical Education Programs in coordination with Executive Governance.
- Partners with faculty to develop and support clinical rotations for the OHSU medical education Eugene site, as well as other medical schools that are affiliated for sending student trainees.
- Responsible for contracting with clinical physician faculty groups and medical schools and developing/managing department budgets in collaboration with OHSU and Sacred Heart Foundation.
- Recruits, hire, develop and supervise support staff. Assures support for the Medical Education Director and a variety of faculty/course directors as needed.
- Facilitates and plans for technology needs of the clinical site.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's Degree or combination of education and experience that provides the caregiver with the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job.
- Master's Degree Preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years experience in medical education or related programs required.
- Minimum of 2 years leadership experience required.
- Project management experience with demonstrated ability in system thinking, complex problem-solving, and decision-making required.
- Experience in education, leadership, program development, curriculum planning, caregiver management, preferably in a healthcare setting required.
- Knowledge of ACGME Requirements and experience working with medical residents preferred.
- Proficient with MSOffice applications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to provide excellent service to co-workers, faculty, students and the public even when placed in difficult situations.
- Ability to prioritize, work independently and use judgement in making decisions or dealing wih unusual situations.
- Working knowledge of standard office software applications, telecommunications, and privacy and confidentiality issues.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to be flexible regarding job assignments and support other co-workers with their tasks as needed.
- Consistently operates computer and other office equipment.
- Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
- Sedentary work.
- Predominantly operates in an office environment.
- Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
- The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
