PeaceHealth in Springfield, Oregon is seeking a Clinical Informaticist at the Reference Lab for a Full Time, 1.00 FTE, Day position. The salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $45.14 – $67.70. The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, seniority, etc.

Job Summary

Serves as a strategic bridge between clinical operations and technology, supporting the evaluation, implementation, and adoption of standardized digital health solutions in the Laboratory and integrating these solutions within the clinical enterprise. This role is responsible for workflow analysis relating to Laboratory processes and systems, defining upfront system requirements, and evaluating current product capabilities to optimize clinical and operational outcomes. Champions evidence-based practices particular to the laboratory environment; drives digital transformation and ensures technology solutions align with organizational goals and regulatory standards.

What you will do:

  • Leads the identification and design of consistent workflows and content in laboratory systems aligning with clinical stakeholders while promoting standardization, critical decision-making and helping ensure adoption of electronic solutions across the entire PeaceHealth system.
  • Supports the assessment, selection, and deployment of clinical technology solutions, including EHRs, clinical decision support, and interoperability platforms available to the laboratory. Defines and documents system requirements in partnership with clinical and operational leaders.
  • Collaborates with clinical and IT stakeholders to translate clinical workflows into technology solutions and ensure successful technology adoption.
  • Participates in collaboration with other members of the IT team in the design, building, testing, and implementation of all electronic applications to support the goals of the department and organization. Facilitates/ participates in EHR optimization/ CDI via PeaceHealth’s System Governance Model.
  • Identifies opportunities to replace redundant and/ or manual processes with automated solutions; updates published workflows as appropriate.
  • Promotes an evidence-based practice model for laboratory workflow design and electronic systems throughout the organization.
  • Provides ongoing analysis of EHR system/ workflow design for patient quality and safety; ensures clinical excellence by identifying workflow gaps in response to reported issues; updates published workflows as appropriate.
  • Facilitates/participates on EHR upgrade teams, including recommending new functionality and workflows; updates published workflows as appropriate.
  • Ensures that the EHR, and other electronic solutions as appropriate, comply with legal and regulatory standards.
  • Monitors and reports on technology performance, user adoption, and impact on patient care. Uses data analytics to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Evaluates current product capabilities, recommend enhancements, and ensure solutions meet clinical needs and regulatory requirements. Provides ongoing standardized workflow reinforcement across the entire PeaceHealth System.
  • Engages/ collaborates with clinical operations across the PeaceHealth system to ensure direct patient caregivers influence on EHR/technology decisions, workflow, content and system design and implementation training and/or communication.
  • Supports strategic portfolio management and Laboratory initiatives.

What you bring:

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree Required: Medical Technology or
  • Required: Nursing or
  • Required: Informatics or
  • Required: Healthcare Administration or
  • Required: Communications or
  • Required: Business Administration or other health care related field, or equivalent combination of education and/ or experience

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years Required: Healthcare discipline such as nursing, direct patient care, clinical leadership, ancillary clinical specialty, or related technical experience and
  • Required: Experience performing high complexity testing in a clinical laboratory, familiarity with efficient laboratory workflows. and
  • Required: Experience supporting operations in an electronic healthcare environment or may have equivalent combination of education and/or experience and
  • Required: Knowledge and understanding of related protocols, hardware documentation and systems applications and
  • Required: Knowledge of the healthcare system, and the differing patient care processes within its settings and
  • Required: Knowledge of the principles and methodologies of process improvement and
  • Required: Epic Experience and

Credentials

  • Preferred: Medical Technologist ASCP or equivalent and
  • Preferred: Certified Professional - Healthcare Info & Mgmt Systems or ANIA or other informatics certification
