Social Emotional Learning Interventionist – based out of East Syracuse Minoa School District.
Are you passionate about building community and promoting social competence? Do you have experience working with elementary school students?
Peaceful Schools is seeking experienced and dynamic youth development specialists to serve as a Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Interventionist embedded in the middle school setting with the ability to support other grades for tasks such as return from suspension/re-entry circles. The SEL Interventionist will support the implementation of a comprehensive SEL program throughout the school. The SEL work will include a focus on elementary students and weekly social skill lessons with the K-5 levels. Through small-group social skill instruction, structured conflict resolution. The SEL Interventions will support students’ social-emotional health and development. Supported by the Peaceful Schools team, SEL Interventionists will work alongside school staff to identify and address schoolwide and individual needs. Position is based out of Woodland Elementary.
Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Responsibilities:
- Conduct individual evidence-based interventions.
- Conduct social skill groups with targeted student groupings utilizing evidence-based strategies.
- Monitor and report on student progress in skill groups and individual interventions.
- Conduct Restorative Conferences and Mediations with students.
- Conduct Restorative Circles with students and support staff-led circles as needed.
- Utilize data and school assessment measures to develop targeted student grouping and topics.
- Participate in school-based team meetings.
- Support a safe and welcoming school climate by assisting with Arrival/Dismissal procedures and at other assigned times.
- Conduct family outreach and engagement in coordination with school and district efforts.
- Make referrals for students and families to services and community organizations for additional SEL support.
- Maintain accurate records and data to contribute to the monthly reports on services provided.
- Actively participate in Peaceful Schools staff trainings and meetings, as well as in select school-based trainings and meetings.

- Display strong interpersonal skills and a positive attitude, and problem-solving skills in line with the Peaceful Schools Core Values.
- Ability to work independently and identify and solve problems.
- Follow all company policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree preferred in Education, Psychology, Human Services or related field, or significant relevant experience preferred.
- Experience in Restorative Practices and youth development preferred.
- Experience working in a K-12 setting preferred.
- Fingerprint and background clearance as required under Laws of New York 2001, Chapter 180, and its subsequent amendments.
- Computer and social media literate including basics in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, and twitter.
Position is 12-month, full-time, working Monday-Friday during the school day, 40 hours per week.
