Duties
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts and manual handling techniques
- Monitor patients’ health by taking vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature; report any concerns promptly
- Support medication administration following care plans and HIPAA regulations to ensure privacy and safety
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to dietary needs and assist with feeding when necessary
- Conduct patient observation and monitor for changes in condition, especially in residents with dementia or Alzheimer's disease
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning and laundry
- Document care activities accurately in compliance with healthcare standards and assist with updating care plans
Skills
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly valued
- Strong patient observation skills with the ability to recognize changes in condition or behavior
- Knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, memory care, and working with individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders or disabilities
- Ability to perform manual handling tasks safely using equipment like Hoyer lifts and assistive devices
- Familiarity with medication administration protocols and vital signs monitoring
- Excellent caregiving skills combined with compassion, patience, and a positive attitude
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations and confidentiality standards in healthcare settings
