Peace Zone is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides valuable programs such as recovery support groups, arts empowerment opportunities, peer-mentoring, gardening, journaling, as well as community outreach.

POSITION TITLE: Peer Support Professional & Outreach Coordinator
REPORTS TO: Executive Director
CLASSIFICATION: Hourly
POSITION PURPOSE: The Peer Support Professional & Outreach Coordinator is an active member of Peace Zone who provides peer-to-peer recovery support, facilitates groups, and fosters a safe and welcoming environment for individuals in recovery. This role also leads community outreach efforts by building and maintaining relationships with local organizations, increasing awareness of services, and connecting individuals to supportive resources. Through both peer support and outreach, this position supports the organization’s mission by promoting recovery, reducing barriers to access, and strengthening community engagement. A Peer Support Professional & Outreach Coordinator must have personal, lived experience with either mental health issues and/or substance use/addiction issues in order to mentor others and qualify for the Certified Peer Support Professional training/certification. This means that you, yourself, must have a mental health diagnosis and are in recovery OR have abused substances and are in recovery for addiction issues.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Facilitate groups and coach peers
Document interactions for grant requirements
Maintain front desk check-in, greet peers, encourage participation in groups and activities, and enforce safe behaviors and boundaries
Maintain a clean, safe environment in accordance with policies and procedures
Provides guidance on the recovery process and recovery education
Assist others in developing a Personal Recovery Plan
Provide Telephone Recovery Support
Introduce and engage the client in the recovery community
Provide support before, during and after treatment
Adhere to professional ethical codes and HIPAA regulations
Build and maintain relationships with community partners, including nonprofits, agencies, and local organizations
Conduct regular outreach to community partners to assess needs and provide updated information on services
Distribute informational materials and resources to community partners
Represent the organization at community events, including attending weekly mental health court sessions
Provide education and overview of services to external organizations and community members
Coordinate and track outreach efforts, including maintaining partner contact lists and communication records
Identify opportunities to expand community partnerships and increase program visibility
Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
First-hand lived experience with either mental health or addiction/substance issues.
In stable recovery for said mental health issues or addiction/issues.
Certification: WRAP facilitation, Certified Peer Support Professional (if you are not yet certified, completion of training will be required and financial responsibility will be covered)
Must maintain a valid Indiana driver’s license
Basic computer skills
Maintenance of CEUs and certification requirements
