Summary/Objective
The primary objective of the Resident Support Specialist is to respond to emergencies, provide lift assistance for falls, assist C.N.A.’s in AL/Memory Care as needed, respond to all escalated Care Alarms during the shift, complete incident reports, and communicate daily with Wellness Advocate and Wellness Coordinator. Answers incoming calls during shift. Assumes overall responsibility for security and safety of the campus and employees on duty.
Essential Functions

- Responds to care alarms in IL and resident emergencies in IL and AL.
- Provides lift assistance for resident falls; calls paramedics when indicated.
- Assists C.N.A.s in Assisted Living and Memory Care as needed with agitated or restless residents.
- Answers all incoming calls during overnight hours, ensures all phone lines are transferred to Resident Support cell phone.
- Completes Incident Reports and forwards to necessary personnel.
- Responds to building emergencies and makes appropriate calls to maintenance and/or fire department; evacuates residents as necessary.
- Supports residents with special needs in IL and AL, i.e. wandering, restless, fearful, etc.
- Communicates with Wellness Advocate and Coordinator and/or Circle Nurse with special needs or follow up that is needed with residents.
- Assumes overall responsibility for the security and safety of the campus and employees on duty.
- Handles all urgent maintenance service requests from residents; notifies Maintenance Department as needed. Performs light maintenance, i.e. resetting breakers, plumbing problems) as requested.
- Provides leadership in emergent situations and support to staff working overnight shift.
- Maintains communication log for AL and IL throughout evening.
- Performs nightly rounds, checks exterior doors, notes maintenance issues, unlocks and open Village Desk at scheduled time.
- Understands all safety and emergency procedures as established by Peace Village.
- Reports census, distributes notices to resident mailboxes, assists with clerical projects including data entry in Point Click Care, orders supplies and other special projects.
- Ensures outstanding customer service in accordance with the mission of Peace Village.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position assumes a leadership position for overnight staff.
Work Environment
This position operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copiers.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, use hands, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must be able to lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds and occasionally life and/or move objects up to 75 pounds.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a PRN position. This position works the overnight shift, and works some weekends. This position can be worked in combination with CNA/Companion position for more scheduling options.
Travel
No travel is required for this position.
Required Education and Experience
- Two years or more of successful work experience in this or a related field with applicable management responsibilities.
- Previous senior living -related experience desired.
- C.N.A. certification preferred
