Job Overview
Peace River Preschool is just opening! We are a Waldorf inspired preschool on the campus of Peace Valley Charter School here in Boise. We are looking for an Aftercare Lead, where you will supervise and support children after preschool hours (1pm-5pm, Monday-Friday). This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to support preschool age children in a natural, low technology environment. As the Aftercare Lead, your primary focus will be encouraging a relaxed and positive environment while following the routines of the day, including naptime, snack, and free play. Additionally, you will help children problem solve by actively engaging with them when issues come up. We may be open to a reduced schedule if you are not available all days Monday - Friday. While the number of children is not fixed, it is likely to be 3-8 children. You would be the sole Peace River staff present, though there will be teachers and students on campus.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and engage children in a variety of age-appropriate activities, including arts and crafts and free play
- Implement behavior management strategies to promote positive conduct and conflict resolution among children
- Coordinate with teaching staff to ensure smooth transitions between classroom and aftercare routines
- Maintain a safe environment by adhering to first aid protocols, CPR procedures, and emergency response guidelines
- Communicate as needed with parents about their child's progress, behavior, and daily experiences
Skills
- Some experience in childcare preferred
- Certified in first aid, CPR, familiar with first aid protocols preferred
- Knowledge of childhood development principles to support age-specific needs and behaviors preferred
