What are the responsibilities and job description for the FT Experienced Special Needs Nanny for Young Adult position at Peace of Mind Nannies?
A professional and collaborative family is seeking an organized and detail-oriented nanny to be a part of their daughter's care team Monday-Friday. The schedule is M-W 6am-3:30pm & Th-F 3:30pm-8:30 for a total 38 hours per week.
It's important to the family to have a nanny that enjoys working with a young adult who is joyous, loves to make jokes, laugh and dance. Their daughter is 23 years old, has Cerebral Palsy, and is nonverbal and outgoing. She uses a wheelchair, body jacket, AFOs, and back brace. She communicates via a voice output and a few adapted signs. She loves to have fun by listening to music, exploring and learning about the natural world, especially octopuses!
The young woman thrives on following a schedule filled with gross motor skill exercises (stretches and tummy time), group meetings (ie. workout classes, social and gardening groups) and community activities (cafe and library trips). Additional responsibilities include planning, preparing and serving meals/snacks (pureed foods, smoothies, pudding); unpacking backpack; packing school lunches; homework help; washing child's laundry; diaper changes; bathing child; and organizing her room.
The family is seeking a patient and energetic nanny who is experienced with special needs, especially Cerebral Palsy. Experience with feeding, toileting and showering will be critical as well. Light physical support is needed to assist her with getting in her stander and using the lifts in her bedroom. The family values someone experienced with nonverbal youth and who is a great communicator with them and their daughter.
