Duties
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment such as Hoyer lifts or resident's personal assistance devices
- Monitor residents' health by taking vital signs, observing patient conditions, and reporting changes to healthcare teams
- Administer medications following care plans and HIPAA regulations to ensure safety and compliance
- Prepare nutritious meals and snacks tailored to individual dietary needs while maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards
- Support residents during group activities, outings, and community engagement to promote social interaction and mental stimulation
- Maintain detailed documentation of care provided, resident progress, and incident reports in accordance with HIPAA guidelines
- Assist with housekeeping duties such as cleaning resident areas, laundry, and maintaining a safe environment
- Follow all safety protocols including CPR and First Aid procedures to respond effectively during emergencies
- Collaborate with nursing staff, social workers, and family members to develop and implement personalized care plans that meet each resident's unique needs
- Support residents with specialized care requirements such as Alzheimer's/dementia care or autism support while promoting cognitive engagement
Experience
The ideal candidate will have prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home & community care environments. Experience working with individuals who have developmental disabilities or memory impairments is highly valued. Candidates should demonstrate proficiency in patient observation, medication administration, vital signs monitoring, and emergency response procedures such as CPR. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations is essential for maintaining confidentiality and privacy. Previous experience with care plans development, hospice or long-term care settings, and working with diverse populations—including seniors or those with autism—is preferred. Candidates should be comfortable performing heavy lifting when necessary and using assistive devices like Hoyer lifts. A background in social work or home health services that emphasizes compassionate caregiving will be considered an asset.
