Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Caregiver/Personal Care Assistant to join our team and provide exceptional support to individuals in need of assistance with daily living activities. Duties
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting to ensure comfort and hygiene.
- Monitor patients’ health status by observing vital signs, mental state, and overall condition; promptly report changes to healthcare professionals.
- Support medication administration following care plans while adhering to HIPAA regulations and safety protocols.
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with meal planning and cooking.
- Help with mobility and transfers using proper patient transfer methods and equipment like Hoyer lifts; ensure safety during movement.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to foster a positive environment; engage clients in conversation and activities.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning, laundry, and organizing personal spaces.
- Assist with transportation for appointments or errands using personal transportation assistance skills.
- Follow all care plans meticulously, including documentation of patient observations, medication schedules, and progress notes.
- Ensure residents’ rights are respected at all times by promoting autonomy and dignity while adhering to regulatory standards such as HIPAA.
Experience
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes or home health settings is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in patient observation, monitoring vital signs, and implementing care plans.
- Knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, memory care, hospice care, and supporting individuals with neurodevelopmental or developmental disabilities is advantageous.
- Familiarity with manual handling techniques including heavy lifting and patient transfer methods like Hoyer lifts.
- Experience working with individuals with autism or intellectual disabilities supports a versatile caregiving skill set.
- Strong communication skills for effective client interaction and team collaboration.
- Certification in CPR/First Aid is required; additional certifications such as HIPAA training or medication administration are a plus.
