What are the responsibilities and job description for the Choir Director position at Peace Lutheran Church?
The Choir Director leads the adult choir music primarily during Sunday worship and/or other services.
Duties:
Determine the choir performance schedule with the Worship and Music Board and Pastor to include:
a) the number of Sundays the choir sings (typically 2 per month Sept - May); typically one anthem per service
b) any Special Services (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Confirmation)
c) Determine the rehearsal schedule (60-75 minutes on a week day evening)
Select music that coordinates with worship themes and the church calendar. Purchase music and other supplies as needed within the church budget.
Collaborate with choir accompanist and solicit and receive feedback from accompanist as appropriate.
Plan and direct all rehearsals and performances.
Recruits new choir members.
Meet with the Choir Accompanist and Worship & Music Board as needed.
The Choir Director has a flexible schedule and has a monthly salary for the nine months- September thru May
