Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant to join our reputable dental practice. The role requires a strong understanding of dental terminology, medical documentation, and aseptic techniques to deliver comprehensive dental assistance.
Duties
- Assist dentists during various procedures including restorative, endodontic, prosthodontic, and pediatric treatments
- Prepare treatment rooms with appropriate instruments and materials in accordance with infection control protocols
- Operate and manage electronic health records using EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, and Epic
- Take and develop dental X-rays while adhering to HIPAA regulations and radiation safety standards
- Perform chairside assisting including four-handed dentistry techniques and vital signs monitoring
- Manage medical imaging procedures including 3D scanning when applicable
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation following dental coding standards
- Educate patients on oral health care practices and post-treatment instructions
- Ensure the clinic environment remains sterile through proper aseptic techniques and infection control procedures
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing patient flow, and assisting with dental reception duties when needed
- Keep up-to-date with advances in dental technology and procedures related to general dentistry, pediatrics, prosthodontics, and endodontics
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant or in a similar role within a dental clinic setting
- Proficiency with EMR systems including Eaglesoft, Dentrix, Epic or similar platforms
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations concerning patient privacy and data security
- Familiarity with dental terminology, medical terminology, medical coding, and medical documentation standards
- Experience with X-ray procedures and radiation safety protocols
- Ability to perform chairside assisting using four-handed dentistry techniques effectively
- Strong understanding of infection control practices and aseptic techniques in a clinical environment
- Knowledge of anatomy relevant to dentistry including oral cavity structures
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced setting while maintaining attention to detail
- Certification or training in pediatric dentistry is a plus; experience working with pediatric patients is preferred
- Excellent communication skills for patient education and team collaboration
