Nutrition Aide, Head Start - Syracuse east side

QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma/GED or minimum 6 months related experience in food services. Ability to lift and/or move 25 pounds on a regular basis. Ability to work around young children. Experience working in school or day care setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Follow established procedures for hand washing and food handling.
• Receive food from central kitchen and ensure that necessary items are on hand for all meals, and store food promptly and at proper temperature.
• Help serve meals and snacks in each classroom as scheduled, making sure that all menu items are served each day, following any special dietary needs as indicated by site nurses.
• Load and unload dishwasher, and rinse empty food transport containers thoroughly.
• Keep food preparation and serving areas clean. Follow established procedures for sanitizing food contact surfaces.
• Take food temperature readings and record daily entries in temperature logs. Calibrate food thermometers frequently and record weekly.
• Track enrollment, consumption and inventory to assist in forecasting of production needs.
• Monitor supplies of paper goods and cleaning supplies, and notify the site supervisor in advance when orders need to be placed.
  
  

Schedule: 32.5 hours per week (Mon-Fri, 7:30am-2:30pm), 44 weeks per year

Starting Pay Rate: $16.38/hour

Location: 215 Bassett Street, Syracuse
