The Peace Center is a major nonprofit performing arts center serving a growing and sophisticated audience in Greenville, South Carolina. It is the dominant performing arts center in the State and region. Built on a six-acre campus with an aesthetic mix of new architecture and historic buildings, the campus is at the hub of Greenville's nationally recognized downtown.
The Peace Center venues include the 2,115-seat Peace Concert Hall, the 400-seat Gunter Theatre, the 1,400-capacity outdoor Peace Pavilion, Genevieve's Lounge, and the Huguenot Mill which includes two event spaces: the Ramsaur Studio and the Huguenot Loft. Opening in 2026 will be two additional music venues: the 250-seat Mockingbird (a listening room), and the 1,150 capacity Coach Factory (a flat floor club).
Position Summary
The Programming Manager is a key member of the Peace Center's artistic team and plays a central role in supporting the Vice President of Programming in the planning, booking, and execution of a dynamic variety of performing arts presentations. This includes touring Broadway productions, concerts, comedy, dance, and other live events in a multi-use, multi-venue environment.
The Programming Manager contributes to curating a compelling and financially sustainable lineup while demonstrating strong organizational discipline, effective analytical skills, financial acumen, exceptional attention to detail, and strong communication skills. This position works collaboratively with departments across the organization including ' Arts Education & Community Engagement, Marketing, Box Office, Production, Front of House and Accounting, as well as with external partners such as artists' agents and producers.

Essential Duties
- Research artists and shows using industry resources (such as Rostr, Pollstar, industry trades) to support informed programming decisions
- Prepare, and submit for review by the Vice President, artist offers, paying close attention to artist fees, ticket scaling, and expenses
- Manage intake and booking processes for potential presentations, including maintaining the organizations' master calendar and handling availability inquiries with artists' agents and producers
- Manage the contracting process including drafting, editing, distributing, tracking, and communicating with external partners to ensure timely execution of contract documents
- Communicate all contractual obligations to the relevant Peace Center departments, including ' Programming, Marketing, Box Office, Production, and Accounting
- Track and manage deposits and final payments for all presentations
- Provide administrative support to the Programming department as needed
- Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with agents, managers, and industry representatives
- Stay informed on current trends in the regional and national performing arts landscape
- Assist with financial settlements and reconciliations as needed
- Evaluate and implement workflow improvements related to contracting and financial settlement processes
- Prepare post-show reports for remittance to touring statistics reporting aggregators
- Other duties as assigned and deemed necessary to the position
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- 3-5 years of experience in programming, talent buying and/or arts management
- Willingness and ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and occasional travel as required by programming needs
- Experience in a multi-use, multi-venue performance facility is preferred
- Ability to work in financial and legal processes (budgets, offers, contracts, riders, settlements, and payment transactions)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other business software; strong financial spreadsheet and financial tracking skills
- Broad knowledge of performing arts disciplines and a genuine interest in expanding that knowledge
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize duties and schedules with high attention to detail
- Must exercise significant judgment, discretion, and confidentiality
