Company Description:
PE Square Engineering Consultants, LLC, specializes in comprehensive residential structural engineering and Texas Windstorm Department of Insurance inspections and certifications. We are seeking a Project Engineer, PE to join our team. The Project Engineer will work independently while under the direct supervision of the Engineer of Record to aid in the overall structural project design.
The Plan:
We estimate this phase to take around one to two years in where you will learn how the company works. After one successful year or two, you will move to a management position where you will be responsible to oversee the entire operation including but not limited to meeting with customers, doing engineering bids, managing on going engineering projects and responding to daily e-mails.

Your Impact:
- Participate in coordination meetings on every residential project
- Familiar with the Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) Windstorm program
- Coordinate the design and documentation required to complete the construction documents on a given project
- Communicate/coordinate with customers the specific structural design for each project
- Respond to e-mails as required on a daily basis to ensure smooth project flow
- Author and maintain structural specifications, select procedures for construction, determine materials and member sizes, and complete all necessary calculations needed for proper design
- RFI’s (requests for information), change proposal requests, and change orders and incorporate changes into the project documents
- Utilize written and verbal communication skills to relay and translate design and coordination items to project team members and author defensible engineering reports, memos, and email correspondence
- Provide site observations / site walks during construction and author reports based on the observation during the Construction Administration phase
Here's What You'll Need:
- Minimum of 10 years of residential structural engineering experience as it relates to the structural design of buildings utilizing wood, steel, concrete and/or masonry
- Bachelor's degree in Civil / Structural engineering from an accredited university.
- Highly experienced in foundation design, in both shallow and deep foundation systems utilizing various building materials
- Proficiency in drafting and navigating AutoCAD
- High proficiency to perform complex vertical and lateral analysis
- Ability to accurately verify computer aided design with hand calculations
- Ability to perform complex hand sketches for details, connections, etc.
- Exceedingly proficient in wood design, including diaphragms, collectors, drag struts, braces frames, moment, frames, etc.
- Demonstrated strong understanding of the International Residential Code (IRC) as it relates to structural design and all applicable reference codes: ASCE, AISC, ACI, MSJC, NDS, PTI, etc.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint software
