Location: Beltsville, MD 20705
Job Type: Full-time Contract (12 months)
Schedule: Monday to Friday; Day shift training, then second shift (2:00 PM - 11:00 PM)
Pay Rate: 31.54 to 39.58 per hour
This position requires use of information or access to facilities subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). These regulations may limit access of controlled technologies: 1) to U.S. Persons, including U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents, and other narrow categories including refugees and asylees, or 2) to certain foreign nationals that have received an export license.

As a Machinist, you will use your expertise in CNC machining to operate and set up a variety of machines, ensuring that every part meets exacting tolerances and specifications. Your work will help create the tools and components that power groundbreaking systems—from cutting-edge aircraft to space exploration technologies.
What You’ll Do:
Machine Set-Up: Set up and operate CNC machines, lathes, mills, manual shapers, planers, and precision grinders.
Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications to determine the sequence of operations and methods required.
Precision Work: Use machinist hand tools and measuring instruments to create metal parts, mechanisms, and tools to precise tolerances.
Quality Monitoring: Ensure all parts meet strict quality control standards, including statistical process control procedures.
Problem-Solving: Analyze machining problems, develop solutions, and contribute to process improvement initiatives.
Collaboration: Work closely with team members, engineers, and other departments to achieve operational goals.
Continuous Learning: Stay up to date with the latest techniques and advancements in machining technologies.
What We’re Looking For:Basic Qualifications:
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience: Proven experience operating CNC machines in an industrial manufacturing setting
Skills: Strong understanding of machining techniques, materials, and tools
Blueprint Reading: Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints
Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills
Teamwork: Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team
Work Ethic: Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Advanced CNC Programming: Experience with reading and writing CNC programs
Wire EDM: Experience with Wire EDM machines
GD&T: Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
