Purchasing Manager

Plan, direct, and coordinate activities of personnel engaged in purchasing of inventoried materials by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate employees.

**Function in the Job**

Sedentary Work- Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.

**Job Function**

• Represent company in negotiating contracts and formulating policies with suppliers
• Direct and coordinate activities of personnel engaged in buying material
• Interview and hire staff, and oversee staff training
• Locate vendors of materials and interview them to determine product availability and terms of sales
• Prepare and process purchase orders for material
• Resolve vendor or contractor grievances, and claims against suppliers
• Review purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy
• Analyze market and delivery systems to assess present and future material availability
• Prepare and implement instructions regarding purchasing systems, policies, and procedures
• Manage and administer inventory turn per corporate instructions
• Keep inventory within the appropriate levels
• Contract and arrange for disposal of surplus material and scrap
• Assist sales department on mill inquiries and metallurgy assistance
  
  

**Other (non essential, i.e. backup duties)**

• Sit on ISO Steering Committee
• Manage annual inventory count
  
  

**Required Skills**

Knowledge

• Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling ofwords, rules of composition, and grammar
• Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques formaximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods

**Compensation Range**

The anticipated compensation for this position is USD $70,000.00/Yr. - USD $75,000.00/Yr. depending on experience, qualifications, and location.
