Accounting Manager
Position Summary
The Accounting Manager oversees the daily operations of the accounting department, ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial records, and supports strategic financial planning. This role requires strong technical accounting expertise, leadership capability, and the ability to manage complex financial processes. A current CPA certification and a minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting experience are required.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise the accounting team, including staff accountants and AP/AR personnel, providing coaching, training, and performance feedback
- Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and year‑end close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
- Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements in accordance with GAAP
- Manage general ledger operations, account reconciliations, journal entries, and variance analysis
- Coordinate external audits and serve as the primary point of contact for auditors
- Develop, implement, and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance
- Support forecasting processes, including analysis of financial details
- Monitor cash flow, banking activity, and treasury functions
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations; coordinate with external tax advisors as needed
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes, improve efficiency, and enhance financial accuracy
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, including HR, operations, and leadership, to support business decisions
- Prepare ad‑hoc financial reports and analysis for senior management
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required
- 7 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics GP, or similar)
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, data analysis)
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving abilities
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain financial information to non‑financial stakeholders
- High level of integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in review or audit process for financial statements
- Experience with process improvement or system implementations
- Industry‑specific experience (pharmaceutical manufacturing or repackaging etc.)
