PCSI is looking for a Floor Care Supervisor on our environmental services contract at Evans Army Community Hospital! The Floor Care Supervisor oversees a team of Floor Technicians and supports site leadership with ensuring work is completed according to quality standards and within budget. The Supervisor provides training and leadership to Floor Technicians and oversees subcontractors as needed, including gathering data on bug light maintenance for annual subcontractor services.

We're looking for someone strong with floor care experience, in a healthcare setting preferred. This position is based out of Colorado Springs, CO. Typical hours are Monday-Friday, 3:30pm-12:00am.

What You'll Do as Floor Care Supervisor:

  • Provide direct supervision for Floor Technicians in a manner that is compliant with PCSI and CBA (if applicable) policies and procedures and that promotes the highest standard and quality of service delivery throughout the facility.
  • Provide leadership and direction in monitoring, training, and motivating employees. Coordinates department activities with other departments and agencies as needed.
  • Provides technical support and expertise to floor technicians. Promote a culture of accountability by establishing documented conduct and performance expectations for each job and each employee. Actively participates in both formal and informal employee recognition programs and events.
  • May be required to perform the work of a floor tech as required to meet the demands of the operation.
  • Oversee bug light maintenance in all MTF fixtures by gathering data for annual subcontractor service, maintaining an updated tracking spreadsheet, and conducting inspections to verify completion.
  • Coach and train team members on the chain of infection and the core principles of the transmission of infectious pathogens and floor care processes and techniques.
  • Promote a culture that supports exceptional employee job performance by providing regular feedback to employees regarding their job performance. Initiate re-training, peer observation, coaching sessions, and performance improvement plans as needed and appropriate.
  • Report employee attendance and administer corrective action timely and in accordance with PCSI policy and procedures and the CBA, if applicable. Act on Leave Requests timely.  Report any absenteeism that might be covered under the Federal Statute to the Office Manager or Executive Housekeeper.
  • Supervise the work of subcontractors and/or EVS suppliers for the department as needed.
  • Assure that assigned areas of responsibility are performed within budget. Assure effective and efficient use of budgeted funds, personnel, materials, and time. Monitor the use of supplies and equipment.
  • Control expenditures within sphere of approved budget objectives. Take corrective action when variances affect the budget.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction and delivery of the highest quality service possible for our customers. Inspect assigned areas for cleanliness and complete a quality control checklist to ensure areas are consistently maintained.
  • Escalate all customer service issues that cannot be easily resolved to the Executive Housekeeper.
  • Conduct patient and staff interviews to evaluate service levels and promote positive public relations. Actively participate and contribute to efforts to improve patient experience and cleanliness scores and key departmental performance metrics.
  • Ensure all employees follow all facility safety policies and procedures. Understand the safety requirements of all chemicals used on the job.  Guarantee that all employees are wearing proper PPE and promotes a safe environment.
  • Adhere to all organizational safety, risk management, and infection control and prevention standards. Promote a culture of patient safety through observation and education.
  • Respond to emergency calls and multiple priorities as needed to coordinate staffing changes and minimize disruption.
  • Participation in the performance evaluation is required.

What You'll Need:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum three (3) years' experience in environmental services and support departments required.
  • Three (3) years’ floor care experience and demonstrated knowledge of all types of flooring (i.e.: VCT, roll vinyl, rubber, carpet) required. Acute care facility experience preferred.
  • One (1) year of supervisory level experience managing staff preferred.
  • Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Technician (CHEST) and/or Certified Surgical Cleaning Technician (CSCT) certifications or trainer designation preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of team members and management.
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office Suite, MS Project, PM software, and EVS software systems preferred.
  • Experience with typical EVS and floor care equipment/machinery.
  • Demonstrates strong working knowledge of the principles of environmental infection prevention and control.
  • Ability and willingness to exert disciplinary action as needed.
  • Ability to set and manage priorities.
  • Ability to work as a team member.
  • Self-starter, able to work with minimal direction and supervision.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to pass criminal, drug, and driving screening.
  • Ability to be exposed to various dirt, debris, and odors. Subject to hazards associated with working in a health care environment that may cause personal harm; diseases, cuts, bruises, burns, common colds, influenza, dust, odors and elevated noise levels.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, lift, move and carry materials and supplies weighing up to 60 pounds and push up to 100 pounds; prolonged standing and walking.
  • Possess valid driver’s license and maintain good driving record.
  • If required, ability to obtain and maintain security clearance and base access to assigned site(s).
