Position Summary
The Financial Specialist is responsible for performing day-to-day accounting operations for the company under the direction of the VP of Finance and supporting payroll activities as assigned by the HR Director. This role ensures accurate financial records, timely reporting, and effective use of the company’s accounting and payroll systems.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Financial Operations
- Maintain and manage the Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains accounting system
- Process accounts payable invoices and weekly check runs and wire transactions
- Apply cash to accounts receivable and general ledger transactions
- Perform bank reconciliations and fixed asset accounting
- Maintain, record, and analyze general ledger activity
- Reconcile Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Fixed Assets sub-ledgers
- Perform monthly close activities, including consolidation of international offices
- Prepare monthly inventory and Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) analysis and journal entries
- Complete account analysis for major balance sheet and income statement accounts
- Prepare monthly departmental spending reports
- Complete financial reporting templates for P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow
- Monitor expense reporting in the Wells Fargo system and communicate discrepancies
- Prepare and submit required government and regulatory reports
- Serve as the internal subject matter expert for Great Plains and assist employees with system transactions
Payroll
- Process weekly payroll activities using ADP as assigned by the HR Director
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
- Minimum 3 years’ accounting experience
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains required
- Experience with ADP payroll systems preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for financial analysis and reporting
- Experience with multi-entity and international accounting preferred
