What are the responsibilities and job description for the Patient Transporter position at PBGS?
As a patient transporter in our Ambulatory Surgery Center, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe transfer of patients from the operating room into the recovery room via stretcher. Patients will be under anesthesia during this transfer, and their safety is literally in the hands of you and your teammates.
This position is well-suited to PCA's and HHA's who are looking to use their skills in a more dynamic environment. Your direct patient care skills, infection prevention training, and empathy and compassion can be put to good use here, all the while working with a team of surgeons, anesthesiologists, RN's, and MA's.
On-site training will be provided to ensure you are set up to succeed.
Success will be measured by your ability to:
- Fit in with our people and our culture, so you become 'part of the team’.
- Being able to work in a female-dominant environment: Our patients are 100% female, and our staff is 80% female. If you do not work well in such an environment, this will not be the right place for you.
- Any candidate (male or female) must be able to demonstrate respect toward female teammates, deference toward female managers, and discretion toward female patients.
- All candidates must be physically fit, comfortable working on their feet 70% of the day, lifting or supporting patients and equipment throughout the day, and able to reach high and low for necessary cleaning/disinfection tasks.
- Bilingual Spanish, Creole, or Russian is a plus.
- Previous training in blood borne pathogens, infection prevention, and patient safety a plus.
- We are open Saturdays, and all candidates must be able to work on Saturdays.
The position is available beginning January 2, 2026. Training/orientation will take place mid-to-late December. Please apply today so we can arrange an interview.
All applicants must be able to pass a background criminal history check.
