What are the responsibilities and job description for the Stormwater Technician position at Payson City?
DUTIES: Performs a variety of semi-skilled and unskilled labor in the construction, maintenance, and operation related to the City's storm drainage system. This position requires a significant level of independence, self-initiation, program knowledge, and self-confidence in group activities. Work involves frequent visits to inspect work in various stages of completion and analyzing the source of illicit stormwater discharge. Works under the general direction of the Streets/Landfill/Storm Drain Superintendent and the direct supervision of the Storm Drain Inspector.
QUALIFICATIONS: Any combination of experience, training, and education which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties and responsibilities of the job will be considered. Previous work experience in NPDES and MS-4 reporting is highly preferred. Education: Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
Experience: Five to eight years of experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience in environmental permitting, stormwater drainage and stormwater management, and/or facility construction is required.
Licenses/Certifications: A valid State of Utah Commercial Driver's License, with no significant violations or restrictions that prohibit ability to perform essential job. Possession of, or ability to obtain Traffic Control Flagger, Trench Shoring, and Confined Space certificates within 6 months of employment training.
Preference will be given to candidates with SWPPP Certification. Candidates without SWPPP Certification must be able to obtain certification within one-year of hire.
Other Requirements: Must reside within 30 minutes of City limits for on-call purposes. Employee can take up to 6 months to relocate within appropriate response time area.
SALARY: $25.90 to $41.43 per hour (Salary Range) Typical Hiring Range: $25.90 to $33.67 per hour depending on experience and qualifications.
SCHEDULE: 40 hours per week. M-F, 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Evenings, holidays and weekends may be required.
