Responsibilities
- Monitor inmate behavior continuously to prevent disturbances or safety hazards
- Conduct regular security checks, including cell inspections and perimeter patrols
- Enforce facility policies and procedures with professionalism and consistency
- Respond promptly to emergencies or incidents, coordinating with law enforcement or emergency services as needed
- Maintain accurate records of inmate activities, incidents, and daily reports
- Facilitate inmate movement within the facility while ensuring safety protocols are followed
- Provide support and guidance to inmates, promoting respectful interactions and conflict resolution
Skills
- Strong observational skills with the ability to detect potential security risks or behavioral issues
- Excellent communication skills for clear reporting and effective interaction with inmates, staff, and visitors
- Ability to remain calm, alert, and composed in high-pressure situations
- Knowledge of detention procedures, security protocols, and relevant laws (preferred)
- Physical fitness to perform patrols, respond swiftly to incidents, and conduct searches effectively
- Ability to work flexible shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays as required
