Summary/Objective

Introducing prospects to our portfolio of next generation electronic bill payment solutions - and helping them understand their transformative potential - is the role of the Demand Generation Team.

Business Development Representatives, the ‘execution’ arm of the Demand Generation team are key members of the go-to-market team, peered with account executives and responsible for the early to mid stage opportunity development.  The Business Development role at Payments is a mid-career role, requiring a tenured sales professional comfortable with account development, engaging high level business and technical decision makers, and the ability to identify and develop opportunities as part of a high performing sales team.  

Assigned to an industry and a set of named accounts, the BDR function owns progress and success in developing the revenue pipeline in that space.  

The Business Development Representative has a firm understanding of B2B enterprise back-office technology, and/or FinTech solutions.  Perhaps more important, you’re able to translate product features capabilities into benefits relevant to every member of the buying committee.  

Your general business skills are as sharp as your sales capabilities, you’re comfortable ‘owning your numbers’ and you’ve got a lot to say on the topic of helping business and IT executives transform their businesses and delight THEIR customers.  You are comfortable meeting with executives, and confident in your ability to take to market sophisticated enterprise applications. 

 

Essential Functions/ Responsibilities

  • Own ‘top of funnel’ account development within assigned accounts and industry space.
  • Perform outbound activities and achieve monthly performance targets for contact development, account engagement, and opportunity advancement.  
  • Create and execute account plans in partnership with account executives for assigned accounts.  
  • Develop sales opportunities by adding value to account relationships, and establishing Payments as a trusted provider of choice.  
  • Leverage internal tools and networking to drive new business.
  • Partner with Campaign teams to effectively land marketing programs into assigned accounts.  

 

Supervisory Responsibility

This position is a highly collaborative one, requiring individuals who can both take guidance, and lead without authority.  This position does not have any supervisory responsibility.

Education and Experience

  • 5-7 years sales / account development Experience, preferably within B2B enterprise applications.   Ideal candidates are comfortable with the FinTech space, similar to payroll, accounts payable/receivable, or customer information services.
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain executive level relationships with prospect accounts.  
  • Able to work in a fast-paced, self-directed entrepreneurial environment that is motivated by revenue growth.  To support you, you’ll be surrounded by a world class team of B2B marketers and other Business Development professionals excited to partner with you and drive our collective success
  • Capable of discussing a technology solution to all levels within an organization including Executive and C-level

 

Work Environment

This position operates in a professional business office environment or home office. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, photocopiers and smartphones.  Collaboration with other team members is as critical a skill as customer communications.  

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or listen. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, during normal business hours. While rare, occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.



Travel

Travel to meet with clients or potential clients or attend marketing events may be on occasion. Travel requirement is up to 5%; however, travel may be greater or less than this percentage during certain periods of the year.
