Pawtucket School Department
Pawtucket, RI Other
POSTED ON 7/24/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 11/30/2026
COZ Club Leader The Pawtucket COZ program is seeking creative, dependable, and enthusiastic Club Leaders to provide engaging afterschool programming for elementary-aged students. COZ is supported by the 21st Century Community Learning Centers grant and provides students with opportunities to explore their interests, strengthen academic and social-emotional skills, build positive relationships, and discover new ways to learn beyond the school day. Club Leaders are responsible for planning and leading an enrichment club throughout each program session. Clubs may focus on areas such as STEM, arts, sports, literacy, wellness, culture, or other student interests. The ideal candidate enjoys working directly with children, can create a welcoming and structured learning environment, and is comfortable adapting activities based on students’ needs, interests, and engagement. Key Responsibilities: The Club Leader will develop lesson plans that build toward a clear learning objective over the course of an eight- to ten-week session. Each lesson should include engaging, age-appropriate activities as well as backup options when plans need to be adjusted. Club Leaders are expected to encourage student voice, use student feedback to strengthen activities, and work with students to create shared community agreements that establish clear expectations for the group. Club Leaders are also responsible for actively supervising students, maintaining accurate attendance, and remaining aware of students’ locations throughout the program. They will use positive behavior-management strategies to redirect disruptive behavior and will work with the Site Coordinator when additional intervention or support is needed. Additional responsibilities include: -Build positive and respectful relationships with students. -Create an inclusive club environment where students feel welcomed, supported, and encouraged to participate. -Communicate consistently with the Site Coordinator and other COZ staff. -Communicate respectfully with parents and guardians while keeping the Site Coordinator informed of family conversations. -Complete injury reports, student incident reports, and other required paperwork accurately and on time. -Maintain organized program materials and notify the Site Coordinator when additional supplies are needed. -Clean activity spaces and return classrooms and school materials to their original condition each day. -Attend required staff meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities. -Follow all COZ and district expectations related to attendance, punctuality, dress, cellphone use, student supervision, and professional conduct. Qualifications: Candidates should have experience working with elementary-aged children in an afterschool program, school, camp, childcare setting, recreation program, youth organization, or similar environment. Experience planning and facilitating group activities is strongly preferred. A high school diploma or equivalent is required. College coursework, a degree, or professional training in education, youth development, recreation, child development, the arts, STEM, or a related area is preferred but not required. Candidates with specialized experience or skills that could be developed into an engaging student club are encouraged to apply. The ideal candidate will be reliable, patient, creative, flexible, and able to communicate effectively with students and colleagues. They should be comfortable managing a group of children, responding positively to behavioral needs, and adjusting activities when something does not go as planned. This position is a great opportunity for educators, college students, artists, coaches, youth-development professionals, and community members who want to share their skills while making a meaningful difference in students’ afterschool experiences.
