Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians efficiently during examinations, diagnostics, surgeries, and medical procedures
- Confidently administer medications and treatments as directed by the veterinarian
- Perform venipuncture, sample collection, and in-house laboratory testing (as skill set allows)
- Perform dental prophylaxis and obtain high-quality dental radiographs in accordance with clinic protocols
- Monitor patients under anesthesia during surgical procedures, including vital signs and anesthetic depth, and promptly report concerns to the veterinarian
- Accurately document medical records, treatments, and client communications
- Prepare, clean, and maintain exam rooms, surgical areas, and treatment spaces
- Monitor hospitalized patients and promptly report changes or concerns
- Communicate clearly and compassionately with pet owners regarding care plans and instructions
- Support clinic flow by assisting with front desk or client communication needs when required
Required Experience & Skills
- Previous experience working in a veterinary clinic is required
- Comfortable handling dogs and cats of varying temperaments
- Strong understanding of common veterinary procedures, medications, and patient care standards
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and stay composed in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication skills with both clients and team members
- High attention to detail and accountability in medical record keeping
- Experience performing dental prophylaxis and obtaining dental radiographs
- Ability to monitor patients under anesthesia and recognize abnormal parameters
- A team-first mindset with the confidence to ask questions and speak up when needed
- Experience with in-house lab equipment and diagnostic testing
- Surgical and anesthesia support experience
