Dog Bather/Groomer

Paws with Claws is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Pet Bather and Pet Caretaker hybrid positionto join our team. The Pet Bather/Caretaker will be responsible for providing thorough and gentle bathing services for dogs and potentially assisting with cats, ensuring that each pet is clean and comfortable while maintaining a safe and hygienic environment.

This position location is Paws with Claws Pet Spa & Resort Ahwatukee, Phoenix, Arizona

Key Responsibilities:

• Bathing and Drying: Wash, rinse, and dry pets using appropriate shampoos, conditioners, and grooming tools. Ensure pets are thoroughly cleaned and dried to prevent matting and skin issues.
• Care for animals: Feeding, exercising, and providing enrichment for the pets in our care, update owners on pet wellbeing, ensuring rooms and space are clean and care instructions are followed accurately.
• Health and Safety: Inspect pets for any signs of skin conditions, parasites, or other health issues during the bathing process and report findings to the supervisor or veterinary staff. Handle pets gently to minimize stress and prevent injury.
• Cleaning and Maintenance: Maintain cleanliness of the bathing area, including washing tubs, grooming tools, and equipment. Ensure that all products and supplies are stored properly and restocked as needed.
• Customer Interaction: Communicate with pet owners regarding their pets' bathing needs and any observations made during the process. Provide a high level of customer service and address any questions or concerns.
• Record Keeping: Document services provided, including any special instructions or observations about the pet’s condition. Update client records as necessary.
• Team Collaboration: Work effectively with other staff members to ensure smooth operations and high-quality care for pets.
• Assist in other areas of the facility as needed.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred, 18 years old is required. Previous experience in a grooming or pet care environment is a plus.
• Knowledge of pet bathing techniques, including handling, and washing different coat types and breeds, or ability to be trained in this subject.
• Familiarity with pet health and safety practices, including understanding of common skin conditions and grooming products.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact positively with clients and their pets.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
• Physical stamina to handle the demands of the role, including lifting pets and standing for extended periods. Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.
• The role involves working with animals of varying sizes and temperaments and may include exposure to pet dander, et waste, cleaning agents, and grooming products.
• Exposure to dogs and cats of different temperaments, there is possible bite and scratch risk.

Compensation and Benefits:

• $15.50 per hour starting pay, compensation can go up with experience, Usually to $16.50-18 per hour plus extra compensation from tips.

· Flexible work schedule available: Full-time (30 hours) and Part-time (Under 30 hours). * Position requires to able to work on weekends and holidays, as needed.
