Rescue Assistant (Hands on, room to grow)
In this position, we are looking for someone to assist with many of the day-to-day operations of the Rescue. The ideal candidate will be a hard-working professional able to undertake a variety of office support tasks and work diligently under pressure. This person will be comfortable working with a high degree of attention to detail and discretion as well as incorporating new and effective ways to achieve better results.
To be successful in this role you must:
- Have a passion for animal welfare
- Have excellent time management skills
- Be able to act without guidance and show initiative
- Be tech-savvy, having a detailed understanding of the full Microsoft Office suite, online Google tools, and Slack.
- Be extremely fast at solving problems
- Have excellent customer service skills
- Have problem solving, planning, organizing and motivational skills
- Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Have the ability to properly handle, exercise and control large and/or difficult dogs and cats.
- Have the ability to safely lift 50lbs unassisted.
- Must be able to work closely with animal dander/hair.
- Must work within the constraints of resources available and help motivate the team to meet established goals.
Ultimately, you will contribute to the efficiency of our organization by providing personalized and timely support to executive members.
List of some responsibilities (not fully inclusive):
- Answering phones and routing calls to the correct person or taking messages.
- Being the point of contact and organizer for groups/individuals/businesses wanting to work with Paws Crossed
- Assisting with communications - both electronic and physical mailings
- Data entry - both financial and pet related
- Assist with volunteer, adoption, education and general program management
- Assist with events and fundraisers
- Assist with operational/building tasks and projects
- Animal care (when needed)
- Assist with vet runs/transports (when needed)
Due to the nature of our work, one weekend day and some holidays are required.
