Development Intern

Commitment: 15 - 20 hours per week over a 3–6-month period, minimum of 100 hours. Starting no later than October 1st, 2026.

PAWS Chicago is seeking a detail-oriented, relationship-oriented intern with a passion for animals and an interest in nonprofit development. The development intern will gain hands-on experience supporting fundraising, donor relations, and administrative operations. Ideal candidates can work both independently and collaboratively, communicate professionally with donors, are comfortable with data, and have an enthusiasm for mission-driven work.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Development Intern will assist the Development Team with administrative and donor database support. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Assist with donor database entry and maintenance in Raiser's Edge

• Support fundraising campaigns and events

• Assist with donor communications and interactions

• Organize and audit electronic and physical filing systems

Requirements

• Excellent people skills and phone skills

• Strong written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail

• Friendly, professional, and team-oriented attitude

• Organized with strong multitasking skills

• Ability to quickly learn organizational programs and processes

• Interest in providing administrative support to improve efficiency and workflow

• Experience with Microsoft Office; Excel proficiency preferred

• Genuine interest in animal welfare and the No Kill movement
