Responsibilities
- Provide attentive pet sitting services, including feeding, administering medication if needed, and maintaining daily routines.
- Engage dogs in outdoor activities such as walks, playtime, and exercise to promote physical health and mental stimulation.
- Monitor animal behavior closely to identify signs of stress or discomfort, utilizing animal handling and restraint techniques when necessary.
- Maintain clear communication with pet owners regarding their pet’s condition, behavior, and any concerns that arise during care.
- Ensure the safety of pets by supervising outdoor play and managing interactions with other animals or people.
- Perform basic grooming tasks such as brushing or cleaning as needed to keep pets comfortable and healthy.
- Assist with overnight in-home care when required, providing consistent attention and companionship during extended periods.
Experience
- Prior experience in pet sitting or dog handling is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of dog training techniques and animal behavior management.
- Veterinary technician or veterinary assistant experience is a strong plus, especially understanding animal health needs.
- Experience working with animals in outdoor environments or with heavy lifting involved in caring for larger breeds.
- Familiarity with animal restraint methods and pet grooming practices.
- Excellent client communication skills to update pet owners accurately and professionally.
- Background in animal care or veterinary-related fields such as veterinary experience or equine experience is advantageous.
