What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dump Truck & Trailer Driver position at Paving Contractor?
We are seeking a reliable and safety-conscious CDL Driver to join our paving and asphalt construction team. The CDL Driver will be responsible for transporting asphalt, aggregate materials, equipment, and supplies to and from job sites while maintaining compliance with all DOT regulations and company safety standards. This position may also assist paving crews with general labor and equipment operation as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate dump trucks, trailers and other commercial vehicles.
- Transport asphalt, stone, gravel, sand, and construction materials to job sites.
- Load, secure, and unload equipment and materials safely.
- Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
- Maintain accurate driver logs, inspection reports, and delivery documentation.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local DOT regulations.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, supervisors, and job site personnel.
- Assist paving and construction crews when not driving, including labor tasks as assigned.
- Report vehicle maintenance needs, safety concerns, and equipment issues promptly.
- Maintain a clean and professional appearance of assigned vehicles and equipment.
- Work extended hours, nights, weekends, and overtime as required during paving season.
Qualifications
- Valid Class A or Class B CDL with current medical card.
- Clean driving record.
- Minimum 2 years of commercial driving experience preferred.
- Experience in asphalt paving, construction, or heavy highway work preferred But not necessary
- Ability to safely operate dump trucks and haul construction equipment.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and safety requirements.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and teamwork skills.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Frequent climbing, bending, kneeling, and walking on uneven surfaces.
- Ability to enter and exit trucks and equipment multiple times daily.
- Capable of working long hours in hot, cold, and dusty conditions.
Pay: $20.00 - $35.00 per hour
