At Paventy & Brown Orthodontics, we're looking for a compassionate, dependable, and motivated Orthodontic Dental Assistant to join our clinical team. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who enjoys working closely with patients and doctors while delivering exceptional orthodontic care in a positive, collaborative environment.

You should be dependable, detail-oriented, eager to learn, and committed to delivering outstanding patient care. Strong communication skills, professionalism, and the ability to work collaboratively with doctors and teammates are essential. A commitment to maintaining compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, infection control protocols, and all applicable regulations is required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide chairside assistance during orthodontic procedures, including bonding, debanding, archwire changes, bracket and appliance placement, Invisalign appointments, and retainer delivery.
  • Take and process diagnostic records, including digital radiographs, intraoral photographs, digital scans, impressions, and other records as needed.
  • Accurately document patient care, treatment progress, and clinical notes within the electronic health record.
  • Assist the orthodontist in evaluating patients, implementing treatment plans, and monitoring treatment progress throughout active care.
  • Perform routine orthodontic clinical duties, including changing archwires, placing ligatures, fitting bands, removing appliances, delivering retainers, and making adjustments as permitted by state regulations and training.
  • Educate patients and families on oral hygiene, appliance care, elastic wear, aligner compliance, retainer instructions, and treatment expectations.
  • Maintain sterilization, infection prevention, and OSHA standards while ensuring operatories remain clean, organized, and fully stocked.
  • Monitor clinical inventory and communicate supply needs to help support efficient daily operations.
  • Collaborate closely with doctors and teammates to maintain a positive, efficient, and patient-centered clinical environment.
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and applicable federal, state, and regulatory requirements, including OSHA and HIPAA.

Qualifications

  • Active EFDA or EFODA, ICE and Radiology certifications
  • Current CPR/BLS certification.
  • Two (2) or more years of orthodontic or dental assisting experience preferred; orthodontic experience is strongly preferred.
  • Completion of a CODA-accredited Dental Assisting Program is preferred.
  • Proficiency in orthodontic assisting procedures, including fitting bands, bonding brackets, changing archwires, taking impressions, capturing digital scans, and obtaining diagnostic records.
  • Strong knowledge of orthodontic procedures, dental terminology, sterilization techniques, and infection control standards.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to build trust and rapport with patients, providers, and team members.
  • A high level of professionalism, integrity, accountability, punctuality, and a positive, team-first attitude.
  • Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail and the ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment.

  • A passion for patient care, teamwork, continuous learning, and helping create healthy, confident smiles.
