We are seeking a detail-oriented Junior Staff Accountant to support our accounting and operational teams. This role is ideal for an accounting professional looking to gain hands-on experience in construction accounting, financial reporting, project support, and business operations.
What You'll Do
- Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger adjustments.
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
- Process vendor invoices, payments, and maintain vendor records.
- Assist with customer invoicing, progress billings, and accounts receivable activities.
- Support sales tax filings, audits, and regulatory reporting.
- Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow reporting.
- Partner with operations teams to improve cost tracking and reporting.
- Support process improvements and accounting system enhancements.
Qualifications
Required
- 1–3 years of accounting experience.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Construction accounting experience.
- Experience with job costing and project accounting.
- Familiarity with certified payroll and prevailing wage reporting.
- Experience with Sage, Viewpoint, Foundation, Spectrum, or similar accounting systems.
- Experience supporting public works or DOT-related projects.
Work Environment
- Primarily office-based with occasional visits to yards, warehouses, and project sites.
- Fast-paced environment supporting multiple active construction projects.
- Occasional travel may be required based on business needs.
