Location: North Carolina – Travel to project sites required
Company: Paved Assets
About the Role
We're looking for a hands-on working foreman who can lead a paving crew doing new construction and maintenance jobs. Must be able to operate in a fast paced and dynamic environment, setting stone and laying new asphalt one day; patching existing asphalt the next. You'll be the on-site leader who ensures jobs are completed safely, on time, and to spec, while maintaining the professionalism our clients expect. Off-site, you'll help to develop the crew and keep equipment clean and well maintained.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a 5–7-person crew on new paving and pavement maintenance projects.
- Operate and direct equipment including paver, roller, skid steer, backhoe, dozer.
- Must be able to operate a paver.
- Plan and sequence work to maximize efficiency - from truck timing to mat compaction.
- Manage site flow, closures, cones, tape, signage, and traffic control to protect both crew and product.
- Communicate with property managers, inspectors, and office staff regarding schedules, closures, and progress.
- Ensure quality control: smooth mats, tight joints, clean edges, and proper drainage.
- Identify and resolve on-the-ground issues (weather, equipment, material deliveries, access conflicts).
- Coach and hold the crew accountable through all phases of work.
- Document daily activity with timecards, photos, and crew reports.
You're a Fit If You Are
- Self-Directed & Action-Oriented – You don't wait for instructions; you move fast and expect results.
- Detail-Driven & Organized – You catch what others miss and plan site flow two steps ahead.
- Technically Strong – You know paving, sealcoating, and striping equipment and what "right" looks like.
- Clear & Direct Communicator – You set expectations with crews and explain site plans to clients confidently.
- Results-Focused – You deliver jobs safely, on time, and to spec, period.
- Hands-On Leader – You lead from the front, setting pace and example, not just from the truck.
Requirements
- 3–5 years of experience in paving and pavement maintenance.
- At least 1–2 years in a crew leadership or foreman role.
- Ability to read site plans, create simple layout sketches, and use digital documentation tools.
- Valid driver's license required; Class A CDL preferred.
- Must pass pre-employment background check.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and field awareness.
Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive hourly pay of $25-$32, depending on experience with overtime
- Company truck or vehicle stipend
- Health, dental, and vision insurance
- Performance bonuses based on crew productivity and quality
