Overview:

We’re looking for a sharp, resourceful Associate Podcast Producer to support the daily production of our original Crime House series covering crime news, trials, and true crime stories. This is a hands-on role where you’ll pitch stories, write scripts, coordinate shoots, and help shape compelling, creator-led formats built for digital platforms like YouTube, TikTok, and Spotify. You may also support and contribute to other shows when needed.

This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, has strong editorial instincts, and is eager to contribute creatively across every stage of production. You’ll report into the Executive Producer and work closely with talent, editors, and other producers to deliver smart, engaging, and platform-native content.

Salary Range: $62k-$70k pending work experience

Essential Functions:

Story Production & Editorial

• Contribute to engaging content brainstorms across formats (video, podcast, short-form)
• Research legal developments, case updates, and crime culture trends
• Pitch timely, relevant story ideas rooted in breaking crime news 
• Write scripts, outlines, headlines, and episode descriptions with editorial clarity and voice
• Help shape tone and format with executive producer

Podcast Studio Production

• Assist in pre-production planning, run-of-show, and shoot logistics 
• Help manage live-to-tape studio shoots, tracking assets and staying on schedule
• Support talent and guests during recordings, ensuring clarity and tone alignment
• Collaborate with post-production to give cut notes and ensure final quality

Content Development & On-Camera

• Participate in pitching content for YouTube, social media, and other PAVE platforms 
• Collaborate on new segment formats, recurring features and tone-setting visuals
• Stay current on viral trends, legal updates, and true crime fan conversations
• Contribute to audience engagement and community building through content and tone
• May appear on camera in certain stories or social-first segments, depending on interest and experience

Requirements:

• 1–2 years of experience in digital video, news production, creator-led formats or media
• Strong editorial judgment and writing skills across scripts, outlines and headlines 
• Deep interest in true crime, criminal justice, and investigative storytelling
• Experience with production workflows — pre-pro, shoots, post, and publishing
• Comfortable working on tight turnarounds and managing multiple stories at once
• Ability to work in a hybrid production environment with a small, high-performing team
• Proven ability to manage talent and guide on-air delivery and story structure
• Basic knowledge of Adobe Premiere, Google Workspace, Canva, Trello           and AI-assisted production workflows
• On-camera experience a plus, but not required
• Passion for storytelling, journalism, and engaging digital audiences

Physical and Mental Demands:

• Ability to work on-site in Los Angeles, in a fast-paced production studio
• Comfortable working under tight deadlines and breaking news cycles
• Capacity to manage sensitive, high-stakes, or traumatic subject matter
• Flexibility for early mornings, evenings, or weekend coverage as needed
• Ability to stand and sit for extended periods of time
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds in a safe and prudent manner
• Ability to work and communicate well with other employees, management, individuals well-known to the public, creators, and studios
• Ability to perform work utilizing manual dexterity of the hands
• Ability to reach above and below shoulders, bend, stoop, squat, crouch, climb, kneel, push and/or pull, and twist
• Ability to read, write, and understand English
