This hybrid role involves both shop and field work, including rigging and setting heavy mechanical equipment, reading CAD-based drawings, fabricating custom parts, and executing high-precision equipment installations. If you're a hands-on problem solver who thrives on custom fabrication and complex mechanical challenges, this opportunity is built for you.This role demands exceptional skill in TIG, MIG, and Stick welding, along with the ability to work with mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminum. No two jobs are the sameevery task is custom, with no repetitive work or jigs, requiring critical thinking, design skills, and hands-on execution. We take pride in the systems we build and the careers we support.Learn more at www.paulsenmechanical.comKey ResponsibilitiesSafely rig, lift, and install heavy mechanical equipment using cranes, telehandlers, and material handling equipmentUnload and organize mechanical equipment, ductwork, and system components on siteRead and interpret blueprints and CAD drawings to assemble systems accuratelyMeasure, cut, and install piping and ductwork in field and shop environmentsOperate scissors lifts, boom lifts, forklifts, and telehandlers safely and efficientlyPerform TIG, MIG, and Stick welding on mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminumFabricate sheet metal fittings and structures with precisionno jigs or repetitive workCreate basic and complex designs; cut, tack/fit, and weld both in-shop and on-siteWeld and assemble equipment stands and structural componentsUse CAD software to plan and order project materialsPerform basic equipment maintenance, filter changes, and diagnostic service callsMaintain a clean, organized, and OSHA-compliant worksiteQualificationsMinimum 5 years of experience in:Custom metal fabricationMillwright installation and riggingWelding and structural assemblyProficient in blueprint reading, mechanical math, and problem-solvingExperience with TIG, MIG, and Stick welding techniquesAbility to work with mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminumSkilled in aerial and material handling equipment (scissor lifts, boom lifts, forklifts, telehandlers)Familiarity with CAD software and layout toolsStrong can-do attitude with the ability to work independently and collaborativelyCommitted to safety, precision, and quality workmanshipRequired Certifications:OSHA 10 and/or OSHA 30Rigging & Signal TrainingForklift/Telehandler Safety CertificationBenefitsWeekly pay cyclePaid Time Off (Holidays, Vacation, Sick Days)Medical insuranceTravel projects with per diemPaid training, certifications, and apprenticeship opportunitiesCompany vehicle and uniforms providedPersonal tool replacement programTech package (smartphone or tablet)Annual company trips and employee appreciation outingsPerformance and year-end bonusesScheduleFull-TimeMondayFridayOvertime and weekend availability as neededLocationHybrid: Shop and jobsite work throughout the region, with potential travel to project sitesEqual Employment OpportunityWe are proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer.
