Job Title: Managing Director of Insurance Operations

Position SummaryThe Managing Director of Insurance Operations is responsible for overseeing the daily operations, strategic growth, and overall performance of the insurance agency. This role provides leadership across sales, service, carrier relationships, compliance, staffing, client retention, and operational efficiency. The Managing Director ensures the agency runs smoothly, meets production goals, delivers excellent client service, and remains compliant with all insurance regulations and company standards.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee the day-to-day operations of the insurance agency, including sales, service, renewals, claims support, and administrative functions.

Develop and implement business strategies to increase revenue, improve profitability, and expand the agency’s book of business.

Lead, train, and manage insurance producers, account managers, customer service representatives, and support staff.

Monitor agency performance, including new business production, retention rates, policy renewals, client satisfaction, and carrier goals.

Build and maintain strong relationships with insurance carriers, underwriters, referral partners, and key clients.

Ensure all agency activities comply with state insurance laws, carrier guidelines, licensing requirements, and internal policies.

Review workflows and procedures to improve efficiency, accuracy, client communication, and overall service delivery.

Assist with hiring, onboarding, coaching, performance reviews, and staff development.

Work with leadership to establish annual goals, budgets, marketing plans, and growth initiatives.

Handle escalated client issues and support the team in resolving complex policy, billing, claims, or coverage concerns.

Oversee the use of agency management systems, reporting tools, and technology platforms.

Identify opportunities for cross-selling, client retention, and new market development.

Represent the agency professionally in the community, with business partners, and at industry events.

Qualifications

Active property and casualty insurance license required; life and health license preferred.

Minimum of 5–10 years of insurance agency experience, with prior management or leadership experience strongly preferred.

Strong knowledge of personal lines, commercial lines, carrier relations, underwriting, renewals, and agency operations.

Proven ability to lead teams, grow revenue, improve processes, and maintain strong client relationships.

Excellent communication, problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making skills.

Strong understanding of compliance, licensing, documentation, and insurance regulations.

Experience with agency management systems and insurance technology platforms preferred.

Compensation

Compensation may include a base salary, performance bonus, commission opportunities, benefits, and other incentives based on agency size, experience, and production goals.

Pay: $80,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
