The High School Security Guard is a vital and supportive member of the PCSD team, working collaboratively with educators, support staff, and administration to achieve the shared goal of ensuring all students receive the education they need to succeed both today and tomorrow. This role is performed within a school environment, overseen by the school principal, where teamwork and dedication to student success are paramount.
All staff are expected to fully adhere to the ethical standards set forth by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission, continuously demonstrating a strong understanding of the tasks and responsibilities their roles require. Reports To: Principal
Work Schedule: 184 Days/8 hr.
Grade/Level: A-3
FLSA: Non-Exempt
Primary Function: Ability to patrol school buildings and grounds to prevent fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry to the campus.

Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
Ability to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, feel, talk, hear, crawl, and to read a variety of printed and coded materials
Ability to work indoors and outdoors during all types of weather including hot, cold, rainy, humid, and dry conditions
Ability to lift and transport up to 40 pounds over short distances and short periods of time
Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate specialized equipment
Qualifications:
Minimum of high school diploma or GED
Ability to be discreet and confidential
Positive interpersonal skills
The Board of Education and the Superintendent may accept alternatives to some of the above requirements.
Essential Functions:
Patrol school buildings and grounds to prevent fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry to the campus
Monitor traffic coming in and exiting school grounds
Monitor students and visitors for suspicious activity or unusual behavior
Coordinate security for athletic events
Patrol school grounds to detect unauthorized persons or vehicles
Patrol school grounds for the purpose of compliance with student parking policies
Patrol school grounds for the purpose of compliance by staff and visitors of parking policies
Work with the principal and other staff to ensure overall safety of students, faculty, staff, and visitors
Greet and direct visitors as necessary
Perform other duties as assigned by Superintendent or designee
