About the Role
Paul Logistics is hiring a Carrier Compliance Specialist to manage carrier onboarding, vetting, and compliance within our freight brokerage operations. This role is responsible for ensuring all carriers meet FMCSA regulations, internal compliance standards, and insurance requirements before being approved to move freight.
This is a hands-on, non-managerial role where you will make independent compliance decisions, evaluate carrier risk, and support a high-performing logistics and transportation operation.

Key Responsibilities
- Own carrier onboarding and carrier vetting from setup to approval
- Perform carrier compliance reviews including authority verification and insurance validation
- Verify FMCSA authority, DOT status, and operating authority (MC/DOT numbers)
- Review SAFER, SMS scores, and DOT safety ratings
- Conduct insurance certificate (COI) review to ensure proper coverage
- Use compliance platforms such as Highway, RMIS, and MyCarrierPackets
- Identify and manage compliance exceptions and carrier risk
- Maintain accurate carrier onboarding documentation and records
- Support carrier monitoring, requalification, and compliance audits
- Partner with brokerage and operations teams to ensure compliant carrier usage
Qualifications
- 1–3 years of experience in carrier onboarding, carrier compliance, or freight brokerage operations
- Strong understanding of FMCSA regulations, DOT compliance, and carrier authority verification
- Experience with Highway, RMIS, MyCarrierPackets, or similar carrier vetting tools
- Ability to review insurance certificates, cargo insurance, and liability coverage
- Experience evaluating carrier safety scores (CSA/SMS)
- Strong attention to detail and ability to make independent compliance decisions
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data management
- Strong organizational and communication skills
