Paul Surgical Care is seeking a motivated Physician Assistant to provide comprehensive care in both the outpatient clinic and operating room. The ideal candidate enjoys building relationships with patients while also being an active member of the surgical team. This role includes evaluating patients, assisting in surgery, performing procedures, managing postoperative care, and collaborating closely with Dr. Paul to deliver exceptional surgical care.
Responsibilities
Clinic
- Evaluate new and established surgical patients
- Perform histories and physical exams
- Develop treatment plans with Dr. Paul
- Order and interpret labs and imaging
- Educate patients regarding surgery and recovery
- Perform postoperative visits
- Manage urgent patient concerns and medication refills
- Perform minor office procedures (skin lesions, lipomas, cysts, suture removal, wound care, etc.)
Operating Room
- First assist during robotic, laparoscopic, and open procedures
- Assist with patient positioning and preparation
- Provide tissue handling, exposure, retraction, suction, and wound closure
- Perform skin closure and dressing application
- Assist with postoperative orders and documentation
Hospital
- Round on postoperative patients
- Evaluate ER consults when appropriate
- Coordinate care with hospital staff
- Assist with discharge planning
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
- Ohio PA license (or eligible)
- DEA license (or ability to obtain)
- NCCPA certification
- BLS and ACLS preferred
- Surgical first assist experience preferred (new graduates with strong surgical rotations considered)
- Excellent communication and patient-centered care
Schedule
- Clinic: 1–2 days per week
- Operating Room: 2–3 days per week
- Hospital rounding as needed
- No routine nights or weekends
- Limited call coverage if mutually agreed upon
