Medical Assistant / Surgical Coordinator
Paul Surgical Care is seeking a compassionate, organized, and motivated Medical Assistant / Surgical Coordinator to join our growing private surgical practice. This position plays a key role in providing exceptional patient care while coordinating all aspects of the surgical process.
The ideal candidate is comfortable communicating with patients, managing multiple priorities, and working closely with a surgeon in a fast-paced office environment.
Responsibilities:
* Room patients and prepare them for office visits
* Obtain and document patient histories, medications, and vital signs
* Coordinate surgical scheduling with hospitals and surgery centers
* Manage insurance authorizations and pre-certifications
* Provide pre-operative and post-operative patient education
* Answer patient phone calls, portal messages, and clinical questions
* Coordinate referrals, imaging, and medical records
* Assist with in-office procedures as needed
* Schedule follow-up appointments and track patient care needs
* Maintain accurate documentation within the electronic medical record
* Work closely with the surgeon to ensure continuity of care
Qualifications:
* Medical Assistant certification preferred but not required
* Previous experience in a surgical, specialty, or medical office preferred
* Experience with surgery scheduling and insurance authorizations strongly preferred
* Strong communication and organizational skills
* Ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail
* Professional, compassionate, and patient-centered approach
* Experience with electronic medical records preferred
