- Build and oversee a team of Business Development Representatives, providing hands-on coaching and support to help them meet and exceed individual and team sales targets.
- Mentor team members through regular training and feedback, fostering an entrepreneurial mindset and strong work ethic.
- Conduct performance reviews and establish clear career development paths for high-performing team members.
- Manage outbound prospecting activities, including daily cold calling and high-volume email outreach to generate new business leads.
- Ensure team members introduce and position the company’s services and technology to solve potential clients’ supply chain pain points.
- Support the team in crafting and presenting tailored supply chain solutions to address client needs effectively.
- Drive team to consistently meet and exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual sales goals with a focus on acquiring new customers.
- Provide leadership and insights on pricing strategy, negotiations, and closing techniques to finalize service agreements.
- Track performance metrics and pipeline progress to ensure targets are met, reporting on successes and areas for improvement.
- Engage with procurement, pricing, and customer service teams to align on service agreements and client expectations.
- Provide strategic guidance to resolve freight-related issues and maintain a high standard of customer service.
- Stay updated on industry trends and competitive landscape to ensure the team’s approach remains innovative and effective.
- 5-7 years of experience in business development, sales, or client acquisition preferred
- Background in logistics, freight, supply chain, or transportation brokerage strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of sales principles, negotiation, and lead generation
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and capable of using data to inform decision-making
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Self-starter with a goal-driven and adaptable mindset
- Ability to thrive in a team-based environment and collaborate across departments
