Tree & Shrub Yard Manager & Buyer- Retail & Wholesale Plant Nursery

Job Overview

We are seeking a motivated and knowledgeable nursery stock yard manager and buyer to oversee inventory management, and daily operations of our woody plant yard, while also helping with buying and selling. This role is ideal for someone who combines plant expertise with strong organizational and leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee daily yard operations, including plant care, merchandising, and organization
• Ensure proper watering, spacing, pruning, and overall plant health
• Maintain a clean, safe, and visually appealing sales yard
• Manage inventory accuracy, tagging, and pricing
• Train and supervise yard staff
• Delegate daily tasks and ensure completion
• Foster a positive, productive team environment
• Assist customers with plant selection and care advice
• Work with landscaper customers on plant bids and orders
• Work closely with sales team to drive plant sales
• Create attractive displays to highlight seasonal material
• Work together with the other nursery stock buyer to source and purchase trees and shrubs from growers and vendors
• Maintain optimal inventory levels based on seasonality, sales trends, and production plan
• Monitor plant quality, pricing, and vendor relationships
• Plan incoming shipments and coordinate logistics

Qualifications:

Strong knowledge of trees, shrubs, and plant care

Experience in plant buying, nursery management, and plant sales required

Ability to manage inventory and analyze sales trends

Leadership experience and strong communication skills

Physically able to work outdoors and handle plant material

Organized, proactive, and detail-oriented

Pay: $60,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
