Job Summary
The Exterior Maintenance Worker/Groundskeeper is responsible for ensuring the outdoor areas of the property are safe, clean, and attractive. This role involves manual labor, minor landscaping, exterior cleaning, painting, and the operation of various types of light-duty powered equipment and vehicles to maintain property aesthetics and functionality.
Key Responsibilities
- Grounds Cleaning: Roaming the property to pick up trash, debris, and limbs.
- Landscaping & Weed Control: Operating weed eaters and backpack blowers to trim and clear areas; using shovels and rakes to fill holes.
- Exterior Maintenance: Cleaning and unclogging drainage areas, checking fence lines for damage, and spraying for weeds and insects.
- Painting & Upkeep: Painting exterior elements such as bollards, fire hydrants, and handrails.
- Trash Management: Maintaining and emptying exterior trash cans and receptacles.
- Office Exterior Care: Cleaning and maintaining exterior office areas.
- Safety & Reporting: Identifying and reporting hazards or damages to management.
Required Equipment Operation
- Landscaping Tools: Weed eater, backpack blower, shovel, rake, and basic hand tools.
- Vehicles & Heavy Equipment: Electric/gas UTVs (utility task vehicles) and a forklift.
- Power Tools: Chainsaw.
Qualifications & Physical Requirements
- Experience: Previous experience in landscaping, grounds maintenance, or general manual labor is preferred.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to walk, stand, bend, stoop, and kneel for long periods.
- Lifting: Ability to lift and carry materials, debris, and equipment (often up to 50–75 lbs).
- Environment: Must be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including heat, cold, and rain.
- License: Valid driver’s license.
