Duties
- Greet patients and visitors warmly, ensuring a positive first impression and efficient check-in process
- Answer multi-line phone systems promptly with professional phone etiquette, directing calls appropriately
- Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance verification, and assist with billing inquiries using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks
- Schedule patient appointments accurately utilizing medical scheduling software and coordinate follow-up care plans
- Maintain and update patient records in EMR systems, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and proper documentation review
- Assist with medical administrative tasks including filing, data entry, and managing medical records using office management software like Dentrix or Eaglesoft
- Support clinical staff by preparing intake forms, verifying CPT coding, ICD-10/ICD-9 coding accuracy, and handling medical documentation efficiently
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a medical office or healthcare environment, preferably as a medical receptionist or front desk staff in clinics or dental offices
- Strong knowledge of EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, Dentrix or Eaglesoft
- Familiarity with medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), and insurance verification processes
- Excellent computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and typing skills (including 10-key typing)
- Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to handle sensitive information in accordance with HIPAA standards
- Bilingual abilities are highly desirable to serve diverse patient populations effectively
- Previous experience with dental terminology or hospital experience is a plus
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for documentation review and filing tasks
- Ability to manage multi-line phone systems efficiently while maintaining professionalism at all times
