Need a Network Engineer with Extreme Networks switching REMOTE (But may require visits at sites as and when required in Dallas, TX.)
Key Responsibilities:
• Design, implement, configure, and manage complex network environments utilizing Extreme Networks switches (e.g., ExtremeSwitching X series, Summit series, BlackDiamond series) and related technologies.
• Lead the deployment and optimization of Extreme Fabric Connect (EFC) solutions for highly resilient and scalable network architectures.
• Configure and troubleshoot advanced Extreme Networks features such as VLANs, link aggregation (LAG), QoS, OSPF, BGP, and multicast routing.
• Utilize and manage ExtremeCloud IQ for network monitoring, analytics, and centralized management of Extreme Networks devices.
• Perform network performance tuning, capacity planning, and proactive monitoring to ensure optimal network health and uptime.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues, including connectivity problems, performance degradation, and security vulnerabilities, primarily within the Extreme Networks ecosystem.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive network documentation, including network diagrams, configurations, and operational procedures.
• Implement and enforce network security best practices, including access control lists (ACLs), port security, and network segmentation.
• Collaborate with other IT teams (servers, security, applications) to ensure seamless integration and operation of network services.
• Participate in on-call rotation for critical network support as needed.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest Extreme Networks technologies, certifications, and industry trends.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience as a Network Engineer, with at least 3 years specifically focused on Extreme Networks switching products.
• Deep expertise in Extreme Networks switching platforms and technologies, including:
o ExtremeSwitching X series, Summit series, BlackDiamond series.
o Extreme Fabric Connect (EFC) design, implementation, and troubleshooting.
o ExtremeCloud IQ for network management and analytics.
o Extreme Management Center (XMC) / Extreme Network Automation (ENA) experience is a plus.
• Strong understanding of networking protocols, including TCP/IP, VLANs, STP, OSPF, BGP, MPLS, and QoS.
• Proven experience with network design, implementation, and operational support in an enterprise environment.
• Experience with network security principles and technologies (firewalls, VPNs, NAC).
Preferred Certifications (Highly Valued):
• Extreme Networks Certified Specialist (ECS) in Switching and Routing
• Extreme Networks Certified Expert (ECE) in Fabric or Campus Networks
• CCNA, CCNP, or other relevant industry certifications are a plus.
Engagement terms:
· Location: REMOTE (But may require visits at sites as and when required in Dallas, TX.)
· Hourly rate on 1099: $25-35/hr.
- Candidates should require having a Professional and general liability insurance that is typical of an independent contractor for 1099. It is quite cheap and easy to get this insurance.
- Work shift/Business Hours: Monday to Friday (8X5) local business time. however, may need to extend shift or on call support.
- Duration: Currently the contract is till December 2025, with possible renewal.
