Automotive Service Technician

Position Summary

The Automotive Service Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining customer vehicles in accordance with dealership and manufacturer standards. The ideal candidate possesses strong mechanical and electrical diagnostic skills, a commitment to quality workmanship, and the ability to efficiently complete repairs while maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Perform vehicle diagnostics, maintenance, and repair services on a wide range of automotive systems.
• Diagnose and repair engine, transmission, suspension, steering, brake, electrical, HVAC, and drivability concerns.
• Utilize manufacturer diagnostic equipment, scan tools, and service information systems to identify and resolve vehicle issues.
• Perform warranty, customer-pay, and internal repair orders according to manufacturer and dealership guidelines.
• Accurately document diagnostic findings, repair procedures, and completed work on repair orders.
• Communicate repair recommendations and vehicle conditions to Service Advisors and management.
• Complete repairs efficiently while maintaining quality and productivity standards.
• Road test vehicles as necessary to verify concerns and confirm repairs.
• Maintain and properly care for tools, equipment, and dealership property.
• Keep work area clean, organized, and compliant with safety regulations.
• Participate in manufacturer training and certification programs.
• Assist with mentoring and training entry-level technicians as needed.
  
  
  

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of automotive repair experience, preferably in a dealership environment.
• ASE Certifications preferred.
• Manufacturer certifications preferred.
• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities.
• Ability to read and interpret technical repair information and wiring diagrams.
• Proficient with computerized diagnostic equipment and repair software.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  
  
  

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work in various positions for extended periods.
• Ability to lift and move up to 75 pounds.
• Ability to operate shop equipment, lifts, power tools, and diagnostic equipment safely.
