Patriot Fleet Services is looking for an experienced Operations Supervisor to lead and develop our team of Mobile Diesel Technicians throughout New England.

This is a key leadership position within our company. The Operations Supervisor is responsible for creating an environment where technicians can perform at a high level, providing clear expectations, coaching, accountability, technical support, and operational direction.

Our technicians work independently from fully equipped mobile service trucks throughout the region. The Operations Supervisor connects that independence with a strong operating structure, ensuring technicians have the workload, support, development, and direction needed to consistently deliver quality work for our customers.

We're looking for someone who understands diesel repair but is ready to make their greatest impact by leading people, developing technicians, and improving the performance of an operation.

What You'll Be Responsible For:

  • Lead, coach, and develop Mobile Diesel Technicians while maintaining clear performance and operating expectations.
  • Conduct regular technician check-ins, coaching, and performance conversations.
  • Support new-hire onboarding and continued technician development.
  • Build a team culture centered on accountability, communication, productivity, quality, and professional growth.
  • Monitor technician productivity, efficiency, workload, and performance trends.
  • Use operational data to recognize where coaching, support, or additional resources can improve results.
  • Ensure technicians have sufficient approved work and effectively managed schedules.
  • Maintain visibility into repair progress and help keep work moving efficiently from diagnosis through completion.
  • Optimize technician schedules and routes to reduce unnecessary travel and increase productive time.
  • Monitor repair quality, first-time-fix performance, and service documentation.
  • Review repair estimates and documentation for technical accuracy and completeness.
  • Work with technicians to continuously improve repair quality, documentation, organization, and efficiency.
  • Maintain strong awareness of technician workload, engagement, development, and career goals.
  • Coordinate with other members of the Operations team to maintain consistent field execution.
  • Support customer and repair escalations when leadership involvement is appropriate.
  • Enforce safety policies and field operating standards.
  • Take ownership of field-operational results and follow important priorities through completion.

Who Succeeds in This Role

The right person combines technical credibility, strong people leadership, and sound operational judgment.

You should be comfortable setting high expectations and holding people accountable while remaining someone technicians trust and are comfortable approaching for guidance. The best leader for this position is consistent, fair, composed under pressure, and capable of having direct conversations while maintaining strong working relationships.

You should also be comfortable using performance data, schedules, workload, and repair activity to understand how the operation is performing and where your leadership can have the greatest impact.

We're looking for someone who:

  • Sets high standards without micromanaging.
  • Builds trust while maintaining accountability.
  • Develops technicians toward greater capability and independence.
  • Recognizes strong performance and helps employees continue advancing.
  • Remains calm and decisive when priorities compete.
  • Uses data and operational information to make informed decisions.
  • Communicates directly, professionally, and consistently.
  • Follows commitments and priorities through completion.
  • Takes ownership of results.
  • Can earn credibility with experienced diesel technicians.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong medium- and heavy-duty diesel technical background.
  • Sufficient technical experience to evaluate repair decisions, review estimates, and provide guidance to experienced technicians.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and developing skilled employees.
  • Experience setting measurable expectations, coaching performance, and building employee capability.
  • Strong operational judgment and ability to prioritize competing demands.
  • Ability to use performance data and operational metrics to guide decisions and improve results.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to deliver clear and constructive feedback.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain follow-through across a mobile workforce.
  • Comfortable learning and using field-service software, dashboards, email, and mobile technology.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to meet company driving requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5 years of medium- and heavy-duty truck repair experience or equivalent technical experience.
  • Previous leadership experience involving diesel technicians, field technicians, or skilled tradespeople.
  • Experience managing mobile or geographically dispersed employees.
  • Experience with technician scheduling, productivity, repair workflow, or fleet-maintenance operations.
  • Formal technical training, ASE certifications, or equivalent industry credentials.
  • Demonstrated success developing employees and improving team performance.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary: $90,000-$105,000, based on experience and qualifications.
  • Performance-based bonus opportunity tied to team development, productivity, operational execution, and repair quality.
  • Target total compensation of approximately $110,000-$125,000 , with additional upside for exceptional performance.
  • Company vehicle.
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Life, short- and long-term disability insurance.
  • 401(k) with company match.
  • Paid time off and paid sick time.
  • Paid major holidays.
  • Company-provided technology and equipment.
  • Ongoing professional and technical development.
