Why You'll Love This Role: You'll thrive in this role if you enjoy solving problems and being the expert people count on when a system needs attention. As a Fire Alarm Service Technician, you'll be the front line for keeping fire alarm systems reliable and code-compliant long after installation: diagnosing faults, performing scheduled inspections and testing, and responding to emergency service calls across a wide range of proprietary and non-proprietary systems.

If you enjoy variety in your day, hands-on troubleshooting, and interacting with a wide range of people, this position will let you shine. It's a chance to make a real difference, knowing that your work keeps life-safety systems functioning when it matters most.

What You'll Do:
  • Inspection & Testing: Perform scheduled inspections, testing, and preventive maintenance on fire alarm systems, batteries, and electrical wiring in accordance with NFPA 72 and manufacturer requirements
  • Troubleshooting & Repair: Diagnose and repair system faults, nuisance alarms, and device failures across diverse proprietary and non-proprietary fire alarm systems
  • Emergency Response: Respond promptly to emergency and trouble service calls, often as part of an on-call rotation
  • Compliance: Ensure all inspection, testing, and repair work complies with relevant codes including NFPA standards and AHJ requirements
  • Documentation: Complete inspection, testing, and correction reports accurately and maintain required records for code compliance
  • Customer Service: Convey system operation, deficiencies, and recommended corrections clearly to customers and building personnel
  • Professional Growth: Embrace opportunities to learn, grow, and take on additional responsibilities, including limited install or upgrade work as needed

What We’re Looking For:
  • High School Diploma or GED (required)
  • EL-06 License (required)
  • NICET II (preferred but not required)
  • 4 years in fire alarm inspection, testing, maintenance, and/or repair
  • 2 years in fire alarm installation (preferred)
  • Strong working knowledge of NEC (low voltage) and NFPA 72, particularly inspection and testing requirements
  • Familiarity with water-based fire sprinkler systems
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Google Suite
  • Capable of performing physical labor to include carrying and moving equipment and tools weighing up to 70 lbs
  • Ability to work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions such as climbing ladders, scaffolding and high lift equipment, utility vaults (confined spaces), above ceilings, etc.
  • Able to work a full-time yet flexible schedule, including participation in an on-call/emergency service rotation
  • Drug screening and background checks will only be conducted after a conditional job offer is made. We evaluate criminal history based on its relevance to the job duties.
  • This is a Safety Sensitive position. All candidates must successfully pass a comprehensive pre-employment drug screening test, including testing for marijuana/THC/cannabis, regardless of state law or medical authorization, as a condition of employment.
  • Valid driver's license with excellent driving record
  • Ability to adhere to, implement, and follow safety guidelines and procedures at all times

Ideal Candidate Attributes:
  • Diagnostic mindset — enjoys tracing a problem to its root cause
  • Continually seeks ways to improve efficiencies
  • Desire to grow and willingness to learn
  • Positive attitude and professional demeanor including good judgment and honesty
  • Operates methodically and is well organized
  • Takes initiative and can operate with minimal guidance
  • Trains teammates and openly shares knowledge and experience
  • Customer-centric: goes the extra mile to get the job done correctly
