Description
We are seeking an ambitious, detail-oriented Staff Accountant with 2–4 years of accounting experience to join our growing regional banking organization. This role is ideal for a high-performing professional with strong technical accounting skills and the desire to take on increasing responsibility within a dynamic finance team.
The Staff Accountant will play a key role in financial reporting, general ledger integrity, regulatory reporting support, internal controls, and special finance initiatives.
Financial Reporting & Close Process
- Prepare and post journal entries and supporting schedules
- Own assigned areas of the monthly and quarterly close process
- Perform detailed account reconciliations (cash, loans, deposits, investments, accruals)
- Support quarterly and annual financial statement preparation
Analysis & Controls
- Perform variance analysis and explain fluctuations
- Identify process improvements and automation opportunities
- Assist with ad hoc analyses requested by senior leadership
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- 2–4 years of accounting experience
- Strong technical accounting understanding
- Advanced Excel skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Industry experience in:
- Financial services or
- Regional/community banking accounting
- Direct experience in:
- Loan accounting
- Deposit accounting
- Investment securities accounting
- Experience with banking core systems and general ledger platforms
- Familiarity with internal control frameworks
